On a serious note, the movie is absolutely ridiculous for the entire run time but I would be lying if I said I didn't enjoy it.
Also whoever wrote the dialogue for Connor Jamie Babbit you can tell me if you wanted to make this gay and the studio refused. This movie is ridiculously schlocky in the best way.

Review by I. This movie really makes some strange choices. And the other characters speak to her with the assumption that she cant hear them even though its known she can read lips.
Except Nina, the other main character, who, when she suspects Dot can hear, decides to use the opportunity to confess her homicidal desires toward her father in a way that still feels like she is being a bully while she is doing it and with this weird subtle sexual tension that makes things even further confusing and never goes anywhere anyway.
It was a simple request. When I was in a room with another person, I felt like I was only half there.

It fails both as a psychological thriller and a drama. The biggest sin of all is that it tries to be profound with hollow and laughable voice-overs.

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth. I'm not entirely sure how I feel about this one. In many ways it feels like a Lifetime movie, just more hardcore and I like the trash that are Lifetime movies.
Belle and Cuthbert play off each other really well. I also appreciate the brief bits that had ASL, though a part of me wishes Dot was actually deaf as that would add more layers to the movie, they could easily cut out the bits of people confessing things to her and instead have her just figure things out and see things we need more deaf representation in film.
The mix of toxicity and soap is the film's greatest success due to its black humour and overstated performances; as well as its detriment due to its dark subject matter.
